Fair Share course on Local Economic Development

Local Government and Economic Development Programme Reviving the Entrepreneurial Spirit Fair Share, a unit of School of Government, at the University of the Western Cape is in the process of accepting applications for the Local Economic Development (LED) Programme for 2009. The LED Programme was designed to strengthen the capacity of various stakeholders in local government and communities in the theory and practice of local economic development.

The programme consists of six modules which are also stand alone. The courses offered are:

  • Organisational Leadership; Managing Information and Communication; Local Economic Development; Local Government, Municipal Finance and Budgeting and Research Project in Local Economic Development.
  • The programme is offered in the Western Cape, Limpopo, Free State, KwaZulu- Natal to enable prospective participants to access the programme at a reasonable cost.

Duration of Course

  • The programme requires a minimum of one year study.

Admission Requirements:

  • Interested candidates should have either grade 12, Matric, NQF level 4, or equivalent and proof of at least two years of work experience or
  • Obtained conditional exemption, e.g. age exemption from matriculation board
  • Applied to the Division for Lifelong Learning at University of the Western Cape to have their prior learning (RPL) assessed.
