Learning about public participation and poverty in Argentina

Imraan Buccus, Research Manager at the Centre for Public Participation (CPP) in Durban, is currently on a GGLN-sponsored learning exchange in Argentina.

Imraan is being hosted by the Centre for the Implementation of Public Policies Promoting Equity and Growth (CIPPEC) in Buenos Aires. The purpose of his visit is to learn more about how civil society facilitates the participation of communities in poverty alleviation programmes and policies, at the local and national levels in Latin America. Imraan will be conducting various interviews and site visits to assess the roles (successes and failures) of civil society organisations in poverty alleviation programmes in Buenos Aires and how these organisations facilitate the involvement of the public in poverty alleviation programmes and policy spaces, particularly at the local level. The findings and lessons from the visit will be documented in a report that will be shared with all GGLN members.
